Dinescu Racing - Race Recap - TRAK Race 1 - Saturday, April 11, 2026

The first race of the season always feels exciting. It’s like opening a new book where anything can happen. This weekend definitely had some surprises… just not all of them were the good kind.

Kart racing in the rain

We went to the track for practice on Friday. It was wet, windy and just miserable. Not just normal cold. More like “why is it still winter?” cold 🥶 It kind of felt more like trying to avoid hypothermia and keep the kart on the track than putting in fast laps. Still, it takes practicing in all kinds of conditions to get better at racing. Or at least that's what they told me when my fingers were frozen and I wanted to go home...

New season, new team

This was also my first time racing with a team, UltraKart, which is a big positive. I’m already learning a lot and the coaching is great. It feels like a fresh start and I’m excited about what’s coming next.

I got the chance to meet some new people, which is always one of the best parts of racing. Thank you to all of my teammates and their families for being so welcoming ❤️

Goodwood Kartways - TRAK Race 1

By race day, things were a bit less frosty. I was able to move up two spots in the pre-final, and that felt great 👍 It's not huge, but any progress is good progress.

Then came the final. Contact on lap two bent the rear axle on my kart, making it really hard to keep up. After that, it was mostly about just finishing the race and limping the kart back to the pit lane.

It's not the race result I wanted, but racing is about more than the final position. This weekend was about learning, adjusting to a new team, driving with tough conditions and keeping my cool when things don't go my way. I learned a lot, even if the results don’t show it... yet!

The 2026 season is just getting started so there’s a lot more to come 💪 I hope you'll follow along for more race recaps all year long!

A huge thank you to Team UltraKart and my sponsors: TDot Wraps, Glasslake Funding, NGD Services, Durham Wealth Planning Group and Clarke Engineering. Your support helps make our race season possible!
